Several hundred Sydney-siders turned up to enjoy the Australian Hindu Association’s (‘AHA’) inaugural Hindu Seva Day at Granville Town Hall on 28 August 2022.
Organised by the AHA’s humanitarian arm – the Australian Hindu Humanitarian Fund (‘AHHF’), it was a fun-filled day with music, dancing and food aplenty.

The event commenced with prayers by Pundit Divesh.
This was followed by bhajans by Shivan, Shanesh and Dhiren Adhar.
Popular Sydney singer – Vijay Jogia also entertained the guests with a collection of Hindi songs.
The young dancers – Aaryya, Maithili, Anvi, Nimisha and Yanshika performed a wonderful Himachali folk dance.
From Himachal, the theme turned to Odisha with young Jay Joshi performing a Battu Dance.
Several dozen volunteers comprising AHA members, UNSW Hindu Society members, friends and families hosted the event.
Amongst the dignitaries who attended were Hornsby Shire Councillor – Cr Sreeni Pillamarri.
Older Hindus were not forgotten as Blacktown Seniors entertained the guests with bhajans in honour of the Girmiteers (Indian indentured labourers who had been sent to Fiji).
Other performers included Bindu Khattar and the AHA’s Deepak Nanda.

AHA Vice President – Yogesh Khattar gave a Vote of Thanks on behalf of the Association.
The event concluded with shanti paath by AHA members.
